Ordering, Shipping and Information on Freshness
On our webpage, we accept Visa and Mastercard. You can also place an order with a personal check.
Please note that we're a small outfit, and at present are roasting about once a week—sometimes twice. It takes our brick, cast iron and steel gentle-giant-of-a-roaster a while to get up to temperature! We roast to order, and generally ship within hours of your beans being dropped into the cooling tray. (On roast days we start very early, but if we don't finish in time to meet the mail truck or the delivery company van, orders go out the following morning.) Most residential orders are shipped via the USPS, with larger ones shipped by way of a commercial carrier.
Every one of our packages also comes with a "roasted on" date that is plain as day—no special decoder rings or expertise in numerology necessary. This is very different from the "use by" date you sometimes find on bags from the Big Guys in your grocery store. Those dates declare absolutely nothing, other than the whim of the company shipping it. Who knows how old that coffee actually is? You can be sure that the coffee you receive from Matt's is fresh.
You should also note that we only ship our coffee whole bean, as ground coffee degrades quickly. If you need a grinder, see our "gear" page for a relatively inexpensive option that we sell at cost.

or send us an e-mail if you are interested in receiving a shipment outside the US.
Return Policy
We want you to be happy with what you purchase from us. If our coffee does not meet your expectations, give us a call or zip us a note and we'll try to make it right. If you think a coffee is terrible and would like a refund, grind up the offending beans, put them in your compost pile, and send us the original bag with its roast date/batch number still attached, along with a note explaining the reason for the return. We'll then give you your money back, less shipping charges.
The few non-coffee items that we sell (presses, grinders, and the like) are relatively low-tech, but some come with factory warrantees. Problems with these items should be resolved by contacting the manufacturer. We do want to know about such issues, though.
On Privacy
We use your personal information only to process your order, and to send you information via our mailing list, if you so choose. We do not share it with, let alone sell it to, anyone else.
